School
Utatlán Spanish school was founded in 1990 and is named after the ancient Maya-Quiche capital. The main goal of the school is to provide work for teachers and families from Quetzaltenango. |
Guatemala
is cultural, historically and ethnologically the most interesting country
of Central America. The country of Spring, between the Carribean and Pacific
coasts. The country of Contraversies and misteries, the country of the
Mayan. Our Town Quetzaltenango, also called Xela, is nestled in the heart of the Sierra Madre mountain range, four hours away from the Mexican border, and four hours away from the capital city. Xela is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes "Santa Maria", 3,772 meters, is one of the highest mountains of the half continent. There are indigenous communities, markets, natural hot springs and saunas, and much more to visit in the area. Xela is the second largest city in Guatemala lies on about 2.300 nn with a population of 150,000, most of them indigenous. The temperature here varies around 20° C or 70° F during the day, but the nights can be cool, especially between the months of December to March. By the way, the Pacific coast is very close. If you are once fed up of the classes you could "relax" at the beautiful beach, its just 2 hours drive with the bus. |
